Welcome to Stonewall

The Partners at Stonewall wish to make each and every visit to our property a favorable one. As a guest you may have some questions. Hopefully the information you find here will help make your time at Stonewall hassle free. Once you drive through the gates of the Old Course driveway please slow down and enjoy the beauty of the course and the surrounding Chester County countryside.

As you make the last turn in the Old Course driveway you will notice the bag rack on the left side of the road adjacent to the clubhouse. There a caddie will ask who you will be playing with and direct you to the golf shop. Registration is in the golf shop. The shop staff will direct you to the locker room where the attendant will assign a locker for you. If you are planning to stay in one of the guest rooms or cottages you will be given a room key at registration. The shop staff will give you instructions on range use at either of Stonewall's two courses. All charges for merchandise, guest fees, and any other miscellaneous fees may be made to a Partner's account, or paid by cash or credit card. Stonewall accepts MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. If you are at the club for a luncheon or meeting, please go through the front door and once inside you will find the dining room to your right where the bartender will assist you.

Stonewall's Primary Objective

Is for speedy, walking golf under uncrowded conditions on two world class courses. A foursome is expected to complete its round in not more than four hours. There are no starting times.

Crowding and delays have not been a problem, although occasionally a wait of up to 15 minutes before starting can occur on Saturday mornings in the summer season and around the lunch hour on weekdays in the summer.

Our tradition is to use a caddie on the Old Course. Players are expected to walk that course and to use a caddie when play begins before 3 p.m. As a result, partners must call the golf shop in advance of play so that caddies will be available when needed.

Electric carts are available on the North Course. Our tradition at Stonewall is to use a caddie or a cart when play begins before 3 p.m. unless the foursome is a family group or the player is a certified junior. Play at both courses will be regulated at the golf shop of the Old Course. Customarily, the Old Course is closed on Monday, but is open on other days in season. The North Course is open every day except on those Mondays when a member-sponsored golf outing of over 40 players is scheduled. The North Course opens at 12 noon on available Mondays.

Cell phones and ipads can be a source of annoyance when used in the wrong place or at the wrong time.  Most problems involve persons who may be unaware that those nearby are less than pleased by the noise and the distraction in the resturant or bar areas.  Such devices may be used appropriately in private areas like the guest rooms or in a car in the parking lots.
Similarly, persons using computers are encouraged to use them in private areas especially in the Bull Room where WIFI is available.
Golf attire is permissible in all areas at Stonewall except on Saturday evening in the dining room where diners are advised that the wearing of jackets, or appropriate dinner attire for women, is required. Persons wearing a hat inside the clubhouse with the exception of the locker and golf shop areas will buy a round of drinks to the patrons at the bar at that time. Jeans are not permitted at Stonewall. Collared shirts and collarless shirts like the type sold in golf shops are required. Bermuda type shorts are suggested or shorts with a length that is within three inches of the top of the knee. Cargo shorts are not permitted.
Please use common sense if you decide to smoke. Although permitted on the patios of both courses and on the golf courses, smoking may be offensive to others nearby. Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings especially in the overnight rooms. We hope this information is useful and will eliminate any unnecessary embarrassment. As mentioned, our goal is to make your visit the best it can be.
